Job Description
We are looking for Forklift Operators on 2nd shift to join our team in Carlisle, PA.
 
The primary function of the Distribution Material Handler is to safely, effectively, and productively perform their inbound, outbound, inventory, safety, 5S, and housekeeping assignments. We will train dependable individuals with a desire to work as a part of a team in a successful and growing manufacturing company.
 
Compensation:
$27.21 to start, $33.04 after 6 months
$1.50 shift differential per hour while working 2nd  shift
 
Schedule:

2nd shift: Monday - Friday, 4pm - 12:30am

Overtime may be required
 
Job Responsibilities:

Taking directions from the Shift Lead.
• Inspecting all material handling equipment prior to use and submitting completed inspection
cards.
• Operating all machines, equipment, tools, and devices safely according to the standard work
instructions, rules, and regulations.
• Reporting defective, damaged, or improperly working machines, equipment, tools, or devices
immediately to classify them as out of service until further repair.
• Completing 5S and housekeeping assignments as per expectation.
• Actively participating in on-campus/plant/departmental work groups.
• Scanning materials using a bar code reader prior to picking and/or loading.
• Picking customer orders.
• Palletizing or assembling orders for shipment and then notating units and pallets picked and
staged on the pick sheet.
• Loading customer orders per instruction and governmental rules and regulations.
o Cutting and installing dunnage where it is required.
o Bracing and/or blocking outbound shipments to ensure the shipment is loaded and
braced per company standard and rail/ocean/government regulations
o Documenting craftsmanship of outbound customer shipments by taking pictures
• Checking and verifying actual items received against the shipping papers.
• Checking the condition of inbound shipments.
• Signing and dating validated shipping papers and submitting them to the shift leader.
• Stocking items received per FIFO (First in First Out) principles, standard work instructions,
prescribed directions, and capacity/governmental/insurance rules, requirements, and
guidelines.
• Packing or repacking material as required and applying stretch wrap to pallets.
• Verifying the accuracy of shipments versus the orders and taking corrective action if needed.
• Accept and engage in assignments as business and operational needs dictate.
• Ensuring a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Promote a positive work environment.

 
Education & Experience Requirements:

Preferred Education: High school diploma or GED Equivalent
Preferred Experience: Training and certified to operate a fork truck on a flatbed and box trailer, within dense storage rack locations, using various material handling attachments, handling items of various dimensions and weight, and on ramps, inclines, and declines

Work Environment
Activities occur inside a warehouse and manufacturing facility. Job conditions include, but are not limited to, exposure to the following:

Potential for temperatures exceeding 100°F during the summer
Airborne mica dust
Pinch hazards from moving mechanical parts
Heavy equipment operation including forklift, bridge crane, hoist, gantry crane, tow motor, etc.
Exposure to all weather conditions including high heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, ice, and wind

Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:


Climbing – when getting into and out of a fork truck
• Stooping – while placing material on pallets
• Reaching – while retrieving products from racks
• Standing – to check rolls loading versus the number allocated by the order and standing for the
majority of the shift
• Sitting – while operating a fork truck
• Pushing & Pulling – while loading rolls onto trucks
• Lifting – must be able to lift up to 60 lbs frequently.
• Dexterity – must be able to operate computer terminals, apply labels, and to operate fork trucks
• Talking & Hearing – must be able to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors,
and other members of the plant
• Sight – must be able to recognize hazards, warnings, and read SDS (Safety Data Sheets)
