Role Overview

The Dredge Operator 1 will operate heavy equipment to maintain dredge material relocation areas and lake improvement projects. The role involves removing sediment and aquatic vegetation from waterways and operating dredge-related equipment such as pickup trucks, boats, barges, tractors, and mowers. The position requires travel statewide weekly due to park needs.

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Dredge Operator 1 include operating heavy equipment, removing sediment and aquatic vegetation, and operating dredge-related equipment. The role also involves working in a team environment and participating in public events at parks and nature preserves.

Requirements

  • 6 months of training or experience in equipment operation and maintenance
  • 6 months of training or experience in equipment safety practices
  • Valid commercial driver's license
  • Successful completion of probationary period as a Dredge Operator 1
