Role Overview

The DSP/ASL Specialist will assist program participants in engaging in activities that enhance their quality of life and assist them in acquiring skills to be more fully integrated into the community. The role involves facilitating communication with participants and staff using sign language and supporting staff/participants by utilizing basic ASL.

What You Will Do

The DSP/ASL Specialist will work with a range of individuals with disabilities, use sign language as the primary method of communication, assist participants in daily planned activities, and implement daily scheduled program activities.

Requirements

  • Work with a range of individuals with disabilities

  • Assist participants to meet individual goals and objectives
  • Maintain a safe environment consistent with participants' needs
  • Report all incidents to administrative staff
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions
  • Teach participants/staff ASL
  • Pick-up/Drop off participants to and from their homes
