Role Overview

The Early Head Start Teacher designs and maintains a physical and programmatic environment that supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children in an inclusive classroom. They establish educational and social goals based on the composition of the children enrolled and the community setting. The Teacher develops and implements written plans for daily activities that stimulate learning in all developmental areas.

What You Will Do

The main responsibilities of the Early Head Start Teacher include designing and maintaining a classroom environment, establishing educational and social goals, developing and implementing plans for daily activities, and complying with Colorado State Licensing requirements. They also assist the Center Supervisor in day-to-day supervision of staff, organize classroom materials, and develop positive relationships with parents and families.

Requirements

  • Must comply with all Colorado State Licensing requirements
  • Teachers in Infant or Infant Toddler mixed age rooms must be Infant Nursery Supervisor (INS) qualified
  • Able to effectively manage a classroom of children
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with children, parents, and co-workers
  • Ability to remember schedules, programs, policies, and other details
  • Ability to remain calm and calm others in an emergency and/or confrontational situation
  • Knowledge of the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base
