Role OverviewThe Seattle Times is looking for an experienced journalist to join its Education Lab team, focusing on early childhood education and elementary education. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of education trends, policies, and challenges at the state, local, and federal level. They will be responsible for covering the most pressing education issues of our time, analyzing databases, and working closely with photographers and graphic artists to illustrate their stories.
What You Will Do
As an Education Lab Reporter, you will be responsible for writing with authority, using good interview techniques, and analyzing databases to find story ideas. You will also be expected to work closely with the team, pitch solutions stories, and demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion in story choice, sourcing, and framing.

Requirements
- A minimum of four years' reporting experience, preferably at a metropolitan daily news organization
- At least a year with a specific emphasis on education or state and federal government
- College graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience
