Classification: Exempt Reports to: EH&S Manger – Plant 5, 6, & Shipping Department: Manufacturing/Operations Location: CCM Carlisle Plant 6 Job Title: EH&S Compliance Specialist Revision Date: 05/07/2025 Job Summary: The EH&S Compliance Specialist is responsible for developing and ensuring compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) of Highly Hazardous Chemicals standards and ISO 14001 and 50001 in the Adhesive Plant (6). ISO responsibilities will also extend to the TPO manufacturing Plant (5). This position will work closely with EH&S team, Plant Management, Maintenance and Engineering to implement programs to maintain compliance with aforementioned standards. This position will also be involved with production projects related to process consistency, quality, productivity, and cost savings. Duties & Responsibilities: Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the PSM and ISO programs which includes: Process safety information Process hazards analysis Management of change Mechanical integrity, leveraging maintenance & engineering teams Development of operating procedures and safe practices Ensure that new processes and projects are properly vetted to ensure continued compliance and safety. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices. Lead PSM and ISO meetings with management, maintenance, and plant personnel on a regular basis. Coordinate with internal auditors for PSM, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, and identify corrective actions. Act as the on-site expert when auditors, inspectors, or other interested parties canvas the site for information. Develop training materials and educate personnel to ensure everyone understands the requirements of PSM and ISO. Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Incident Investigations per company internal standards and industry best practices. Stay current on regulation changes by continuing education and participation in industry groups. Become a subject matter expert in the chemicals handled in the plant and their reactivity with the employees, environment, and other chemicals. Resolve safety and regulatory problems relating to materials, methods, and equipment by developing and employing expertise in all areas of the plant Assume leadership and responsibility for various projects in the plant. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. Ability to function in a team environment, work well with others, and handle multiple priorities and projects are necessary. Equipment, Data, and Materials Used: Equipment run on the job: plant mixing equipment, personal computer, telephone, fax machine, analytical testing equipment, photocopier, calculator, flashlight, printer, and shredder Data used on the job: Test results (raw materials, in-process goods, and finished goods), SDS’s (Safety Data Sheets), certification sheets, Certificates of Analysis from suppliers, budget reports, memos, spreadsheets, word processing, and statistical software Materials used on the job: Solvents, adhesives, sealants, primers, cleaners, dry raw materials (powders, resins, and dyes), chopped stock, polymers, processing oils, sample cans Interactions with the following departments: R&D, Purchasing, MCS (Manufacturing Control Systems), Auditors (ISO, OSHA), Engineering, the Lab, Plant personnel and co-workers, customers (occasionally), and Sales Work Environment/Time Worked: Work Environment: Office and Manufacturing plant Manufacturing plant can be dirty Plant ambient temperature matches the outside temperature Plant is heated in the winter Time Worked: Monday – Friday from 7:00AM-4:00PM with overtime as required This role will have occasional on-call 24 hours/day responsibilities Physical Requirements: Sitting – for office work, while generating reports, or while working on a computer Walking – across the plant to observe manufacturing processes and on catwalks to observe equipment function Climbing – using the stairs to the mezzanine level of mixers using portable stairs to look into the sight glass of the mixers Eyesight – reading data from various pieces of equipment and evaluating material conditions Stooping – while observing equipment Kneeling – while observing production Lifting – must be able to lift up to 50lbs Sensory – must be able to smell, hear, touch, and see process and product to effectively define process variability and operations Speaking – must be able to effectively communicate with other members of the plant and management Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used: Hearing Protection Safety Shoes Cut Resistant Gloves Safety Glasses PPE required for use of specific chemicals will be provided when needed
