Job Description
Electrical Engineer 4, Black & Veatch Corporation, responsible for technical specialist in lead substation design role, applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods, and leading the overall execution and quality of substation projects within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, plus three years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, plus five years of related experience.
  • Must have passed PE Exam.
  • Related experience must include high-voltage substation design, creating and reviewing project schedules and budgets, performing quality analysis and quality control responsibilities, and designing and interpreting one lines, three lines, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and physical substation drawings.
  • Must have experience performing Relay Settings & coordination, Power System studies, and fault analysis and grounding studies.
  • Must have experience performing Load Flow and Short Circuit Studies.
  • Must have experience in performing Transmission and System Analysis Studies.
  • Must have experience in performing studies including Transmission Interconnection Studies, Reactive Power Compensation, Short Circuit (Fault) Analysis, and Circuit Breaker Rating Analysis.
  • Must have experience performing grounding studies and hazard mitigation on CDEGS and WinIGS software.
  • Must have prior experience with Software Products for Load Flow and Stability Analysis (PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, TARA), Short Circuit, and Relay Coordination (Aspen Oneliner, ETAP and PSS CAPE).
  • Must have experience working with substation indoor and outdoor design.
  • Must have previous experience working with multinational teams.
  • Must have experience working with civil and construction engineers, construction support, internal and external client co-ordination, and procurement of major electrical equipment.
  • Must have experience with cost estimation and analyzed improvements in QA/QC of the design package.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF writing software such as Bluebeam Revu, Adobe, or related.
  • Must have experience with applicable codes and standards for substation projects, including NESC, NEC, and IEEE.
