Electrical Engineer I / II - Oahu

The Electrical Engineer I / II will perform design, project engineering, project management, and general engineering duties in support of the capital construction programs of Hawaiian Electric. The role requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and relevant experience.

What You Will Do

The Electrical Engineer I / II will prepare plans, layouts, design calculations, and related engineering design work in accordance with Company standards, applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. They will also conduct engineering studies, prepare reports, and review comments on technical reports and studies prepared by others.

Requirements

• A BS degree in engineering in a discipline relevant to the Department from an accredited engineering school
• Thorough knowledge of the theories and principles of engineering acquired through advanced college level courses or equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of personal computers and related software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, and ability to learn additional software tools to perform work
• Working knowledge of LEAN continuous improvement principles and best practices to achieve operational excellence
• Working knowledge of SafeStart principles and best practices to achieve a safe workplace environment
• Good leadership skills including effective written, oral, and listening communications skills and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
• Strong interpersonal skills to handle confrontational, difficult, and/or sensitive issues
• Ability to do in-depth analytical and administrative skills for such tasks as preparing and monitoring project requirements and resolving cost and time constraints, conflicting priorities
• Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license
