Job Description
Zero Motorcycles is looking for an Electrical Test Engineer to support the electrical validation of vehicle systems, subsystems, and components. The role involves conducting system and component-level testing, documenting test procedures and results, and collaborating with engineering stakeholders. The selected candidate will work in the Scotts Valley office and be responsible for leading complex validation activities, developing test plans, and troubleshooting electrical system faults.
Requirements
Electrical Engineering Degree or Mechanical/Computer/Robotics/Etc. Engineering Degree with Electrical Background
0-5 years of relevant experience in electrical testing, validation, or vehicle development
Utilization of data collection tools such as DMMs, Oscilloscopes, DAQs
Working knowledge of electric vehicle architecture (i.e. High voltage battery systems and their subcomponents, motor controllers, chargers, DCDC converters, etc.)
Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, RS232, & SPI
Proficiency with test data analysis, interpretation, and reporting
Ability to interpret technical documentation (e.g. Datasheets, Schematics, Drawings, Standards, etc.)
Experience object-oriented programming and scripting languages (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands
Hands-on comfort working with motorcycles, including basic mechanical aptitude
Able to work independently while recognizing when to seek support
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional team alignment
Capable of producing clear, timely, detailed reports and documentation
Skilled in structured problem-solving and data-driven decision-making
Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to “jump in” where needed
Able to uphold IP confidentiality in all external communications
Motorcycle license: Valid motorcycle license preferred or willingness to obtain license within 6 months of start
