Role OverviewAs an Electrician at Montana State Prison, you will maintain critical electrical systems to ensure the safety and security of the facility. You will work independently to plan and complete jobs, supervise inmate workers, and provide leadership and guidance to support their skill development. Your expertise will directly support the infrastructure relied upon by staff, inmates, and the community every day.
What You Will Do
Install and maintain facility wiring, lighting, and electrical control systems. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to plan and complete jobs accurately. Diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment and perform repairs or replacements. Ensure all electrical components meet safety and compliance standards.

Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Licensed electrician requirements listed under 37-68-301, MCA
- Completion of an approved inside wireman apprenticeship program in an electrical trade or completion of an appropriate training program conducted by a bona fide union or trade association
- Third party verification of (8,000) hours of legally obtained practical experience in installing, and repairing electrical apparatus and equipment for light, heat, and power in residential construction consisting of less than five living units in a single structure
- Worked in the electrical maintenance field for at least (20,000) hours, accompanied by written certification by the applicant's employer that the applicant has attained at least (20,000) hours in the electrical maintenance field while working for the employer
