Role OverviewThe Embedded Flight Software Engineer – Level 5 will design, develop, integrate, and test software that manages a Space payload unit, ensuring compliance with established requirements. This includes conducting multidisciplinary research and collaboration with other disciplines in the planning, design, development, and utilization of data processing systems. The selected individual will work on an agile development team, primarily using C++, Linux and/or Python.
What You Will Do
The software engineer will conduct peer reviews of software-related products, software designs, and additional technical documents, as well as participate in a cross-functional scrum team. Successful candidates are expected to understand system requirements, how they apply to system design, and implement solutions to complex technical problems to accomplish program goals.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another STEM discipline
- 12+ years software development experience working on embedded real-time systems or 10+ years with a Master’s Degree or 8 years with a Ph.D.
- Proficient in Object Oriented programming using C++
- Proficient in all areas of the formal software lifecycle process from requirements to testing
- Experience integrating low-level firmware and software in complex real-time multi-threaded embedded applications
- Experience integrating developed software applications, to include usage of tools and logs to examine data to verify correct operation and identify problem areas
- Experience and ability to mentor, review work products, and provide meaningful feedback
- Experience in embedded software development and cross-compiling
- Experience developing in a Linux environment
- Experience with using software configuration management tools
