Role OverviewThe Energy Manager will oversee emissions reduction and energy management efforts across DHS portfolio of facilities, reporting to the Assistant Commissioner – Environmental Design and Construction. They will work closely with staff at the City’s Division of Energy Management (DEM).
What You Will Do
The Energy Manager will lead DHS’s overall emissions reductions and energy management work, assess agency facilities, identify energy-saving opportunities, and ensure compliance with agency-specific targets. They will also manage DHS’s utility accounts and energy budget, promote energy-saving behavioral change, and support participation in DEM’s Load Management (LM), Demand Response (DR), and Real-Time Metering (RTM) Programs.

The ideal candidate will have experience in construction, repair, alteration, and/or rehabilitation of multiple dwellings, commercial, industrial, or public buildings, and will be able to contribute to overall City emissions reduction and energy management efforts as a subject matter expert.
Requirements
- Eight years of full-time experience in construction, repair, alteration and/or rehabilitation of multiple dwellings, commercial, industrial or public buildings in the capacity of general contractor, superintendent of construction, procurement specialist, evaluator responsible for cost estimation, or as a field supervisor or as an inspector, at least 18 months of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity involving responsibility for a large number of buildings
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above
- Education in an accredited college leading toward a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, engineering technology or a closely related field
