Job Description
Conduct specialized, technical field inspections and investigations to determine compliance with environmental health laws and regulations. Gather evidence of violations and prepare reports for enforcement. Issue notices of corrective action and follow up on investigations. Provide assistance and technical guidance to entry-level specialists.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in environmental health or a related field
  • Possession of a valid Letter of Eligibility or certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist issued by the California Department of Public Health
  • One year of experience equivalent to an Environmental Health Specialist II with the County of Riverside (for Level III)
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Physical ability to stand, climb stairs and ladders, walk on uneven ground, and lift up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to tolerate inclement weather conditions and work in various field environments
  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety principles, state and local laws and regulations, and penal code provisions
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately, communicate clearly, and prepare reports
