Role OverviewThe Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) seeks an Epidemiologist 2 to study the occurrence of disease and other health-related conditions in Montana, focusing on substance use disorder and injury prevention. This role is within the Public Health and Safety Division in Helena and involves implementing prevention and control measures.
What You Will Do
The Epidemiologist analyzes and presents programmatic, service-related data and disease surveillance data, coordinates and evaluates early warning drug overdose surveillance systems, provides data and writes reports for programs and grants, and responds to data requests from stakeholders.

Requirements
- Knowledge of surveillance concepts and theories including epidemiology, statistics, and public health practice.
- Skill in programming in Statistical Analysis System (SAS), R, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), or other languages.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including public speaking.
- Skill in writing technical reports or grants.
- Master's degree in epidemiology, statistics, or a closely related degree.
- Three years of job-related experience in epidemiology.
