Role OverviewThe Equipment Mechanic I or II will perform repair/maintenance and inspection related work for fleet vehicles and equipment in the Fleet Operations Division Shop or a District Maintenance Section. The position requires maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in construction of highways/bridges and inspecting work performed by contracted vendors. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments, however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
What You Will Do
The Equipment Mechanic I or II will perform advanced repair/maintenance and inspection related work for fleet vehicles and equipment, inspect work performed by shop mechanics and/or contracted vendors, and maintain and repair heavy equipment used in the construction of highways/bridges.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair, and will be able to troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electronic and mechanical components and subsystems.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience in automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair for Equipment Mechanic I
- 4 years of experience in automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair for Equipment Mechanic II
- Associate's degree in Automotive and/or Diesel Technology may substitute for 2 year's experience
- Certificates of course completion from a Technical Training Institute in Automotive and Diesel Technology may substitute for experience on a year for year basis
