Role OverviewThe Equipment Mechanic II or III supports TxDOT's mission by maintaining and repairing a wide range of wheeled vehicles, including passenger vehicles, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, and construction equipment. This position is open to both experienced mechanics and those looking to develop their skills in a structured, supportive environment.
What You Will Do
Performs advanced repair/maintenance and inspection related work for fleet vehicles and equipment in the Fleet Operations Division Shop or a District Maintenance Section. Inspects work performed by shop mechanics and/or contracted vendors.

Requirements
- 4 years in automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair for Equipment Mechanic II
- 7 years in automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair for Equipment Mechanic III
- Valid driver's license
- Commercial Class 'A' Driver's License or CDL 'A' License with 'N' endorsement within 120 calendar days after 6 months of continuous service
- Mtr Veh St Inspector-Licensed
- Mandatory: Safety Impact Certificate
