Role OverviewAs an Equipment Operator at Black & Veatch, you will operate various types of power construction equipment to excavate, move, and grade material. You will work on a construction site, performing tasks such as assembling and operating compressors and pumps, performing light maintenance duties, and documenting maintenance logs. You will also be responsible for coordinating machine actions with other activities and positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
What You Will Do
Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include operating gasoline, diesel, pneumatic, or electric powered equipment to move objects or material according to project specifications, assembling and operating compressors and pumps, and performing light maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines.
Why It Might Be a Fit
This role requires a strong working knowledge of the operating and rigging crafts, as well as the ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with crew members. You will also be responsible for identifying safety hazards and taking corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate them.
Requirements
- Multiple years of working experience as an equipment operator or a combination of experience and education
- NCCER Certifications: NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations, NCCER Highway / Heavy Construction, NCCER Rigger, NCCER Site Layout
- Commercial driver's license required when the equipment will be operated on public roads
- Must be at least 18 years of age
