Role OverviewTxDOT's Pharr District is looking for an Equipment Operator for the Special Jobs Section located in Pharr, TX. The Equipment Operator will perform a variety of transportation maintenance duties using equipment such as tractor-trailers, motor graders, excavators, bulldozers, paving machines, and dump trucks. Responsibilities also include performing minor equipment maintenance and repairs.
What You Will Do
Operate heavy equipment such as tractor-trailers, motor graders, excavators, bulldozers, paving machines, and dump trucks. Perform minor equipment maintenance and repairs. Assist with traffic control, place and gather cones, warning signs and barricades, and flag traffic.
Why It Might Be a Fit
This position requires a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License and the ability to work independently. The Equipment Operator will work in a team environment and must be able to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions.
Requirements
- Valid US driver's license
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License
- 1 year experience in maintenance and/or construction equipment operation
- Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes
- Basic vehicle mechanics, maintenance and repair procedures
- Using applicable hand and power tools, equipment, and mechanical devices of the trade
- Operating light and heavy highway equipment
- Maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others
- Maintaining a safe working environment
