Role OverviewThe Equipment Operator will perform complex transportation maintenance work operating heavy equipment, assist in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites, and assist stranded motorists as required. The role requires a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with 'N' endorsement for equipment operation at the time of application. The position involves working independently on assignments, with all unusual issues referred to the supervisor.
What You Will Do
The Equipment Operator will operate light and heavy highway equipment, perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing, and minor repairs on equipment. The role also involves coordinating labor, materials, and equipment, prioritizing and organizing work assignments, and maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have 1 year of experience in maintenance and/or construction equipment operation, or related college education or relevant technical training. The candidate should be proficient in applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes, and have the ability to communicate effectively, follow verbal and written instructions, and drive and ride in a vehicle for extended periods.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with 'N' endorsement for equipment operation at time of application
- 1 year experience in maintenance and/or construction equipment operation
- Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis
