Role OverviewThe Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating various types of equipment, including front end loaders, skid steer loaders, graders, and asphalt repair trucks. They will also perform minor maintenance and servicing work on this equipment, as well as assist in repairs. The operator will use various hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. They will also perform tree trimming, rough carpentry, masonry, painting, and/or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs. Additionally, they will perform Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) and assist with crew activity reports as needed.

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities: operate a variety of heavy equipment, read and understand job-related materials, fill out reports and forms, maintain and repair highways, bridges, and/or other highway structures, communicate verbally and in writing, develop and maintain effective working relationships with others, and work independently.

Requirements
- one year of experience operating small/medium equipment and vehicles
- valid Class E driver's license
- obtain a Class B CDL with air brakes within 10 months of appointment to the position
- obtain a Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) within 60 days of appointment
- register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Drug and Alcohol (FMCSA) Clearinghouse
