Role OverviewPerform skilled work in driving and operating commercial waste collection vehicles with hydraulic collection mechanisms. Operate equipment to pick up dumpster containers, empty contents, and return containers to their prescribed area. Drive a waste collection vehicle to transfer stations to dispose of refuse.
What You Will Do
Operate mechanical forks, hoist mechanism, and crane with clam attachment to pick up and empty dumpster containers. Drive a waste collection vehicle to transfer stations and dispose of refuse. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and complete reports as required.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Must have a valid Texas CDL (Class B) License and be able to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Six (6) months experience in driving and operating a solid waste collection vehicle
- Valid Texas CDL (Class B) License
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability to perform operations safely
- Knowledge of the proper procedures for operating, inspecting and maintaining assigned equipment and tools
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public
- Knowledge of City ordinance pertaining to municipal solid waste collection and disposal services
