Job Description
The Adult Education and Literacy (AELP) department provides English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) courses, citizenship preparation classes, computer literacy classes, and GED preparation for youth and adults 18+. The goal of the program is to help youth and adults improve their English language proficiency, enhance literacy skills, gain citizenship, obtain their GED, and obtain or improve employment.

Requirements

  • Meet with the class four times a week: Monday through Thursday
  • Develop and teach an integrated and relevant, student driven ESOL curriculum that integrates technology, authentic assessment, and work readiness skills
  • Monitor, track and keep record of student time and attendance
  • Administer BEST Plus testing for all incoming and currently enrolled students
  • Participate in professional development and best practice sharing activities
  • Keep and maintain students’ progress through monthly case notes
  • Provide admin with lesson plans as needed
