Role Overview

The Evidence Intake Technician will report to the London location daily and work in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section. The BCI is the state's official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families. The technician will process and preserve evidence and property submissions, utilize the laboratory information management system, and examine requests for destruction of evidence.

What You Will Do

The duties of this position include processing and preserving evidence, utilizing the laboratory information management system, examining requests for destruction of evidence, and representing the laboratory as a liaison with courts and prosecutor's offices.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic, including calculating fractions, decimals, and percentages, and reading, writing, and speaking English
  • 12 months experience working in a forensic laboratory, biology, medical office laboratory, or chemistry laboratory, law enforcement agency, or legal environment
  • 6 months training or experience in inventory control (receiving, storing, and dispensing of materials)
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment
