Role Overview

The Facilities Technician supports the maintenance, safety, and overall functionality of agency buildings and grounds by performing general maintenance and repair tasks. Responsibilities include assisting with preventive maintenance, completing work orders, maintaining indoor and outdoor spaces, and supporting landscaping, cleaning, and minor repair projects.

What You Will Do

The Facilities Technician will perform a variety of tasks, including assisting with preventive maintenance, completing work orders, maintaining indoor and outdoor spaces, and supporting landscaping, cleaning, and minor repair projects. They will also respond to on-call needs, assist with special events, move and assemble furniture, and support weather preparedness and recovery efforts.

The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance, such as carpentry, electrical, grounds, janitorial, painting, and vehicle maintenance. They will also be able to tolerate physical activity, such as walking, standing, climbing, lifting, and squatting, and possess a valid Texas driver's license.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Experience in general maintenance such as carpentry, electrical (basic), grounds, janitorial, painting, vehicle maintenance, and the completion of maintenance related duties
  • Ability to tolerate physical activity, such as walking, standing, climbing, lifting, and squatting
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be able to operate several types of vehicles: multi­ passenger vans, trucks, golf carts, tractors, and standard passenger cars
  • Must not have been charged with or convicted of a felony or criminal offense against a child
