Role Overview

The Facilities Technician will maintain the facilities and building systems at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, working across both Atlanta and Gainesville locations. This position requires working nights, weekends, and extended hours during the Garden Lights season. The team helps bring the Garden to life every day, creating an environment that welcomes guests, supports staff, and preserves the beauty of the Garden for generations.

What You Will Do

The Facilities Technician will perform routine inspections, troubleshoot and make repairs to mechanical, electrical, air conditioning, and plumbing systems, as well as structural elements. They will also perform maintenance and minor repair activities, operate equipment, and maintain cleanliness of the property.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have building maintenance experience, technical school certifications, and/or training. They should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and have self-starter skills. The ability to work independently, diagnose problems, and work nights, weekends, and extended hours is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical School certifications and/or training
  • Building maintenance experience performing carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing functions
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
  • Paint, electrical, plumbing, and drywall skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Capability to diagnose problems on equipment
  • Knowledge of basic electrical systems
  • Knowledge of safety rules, hazards and application of accident prevention measures
  • Basic knowledge of fire protection hydraulic system and fire protection alarm systems
  • Valid Driver’s License with good Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
