Job Description
The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation, prepping, splicing, testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic cabling in both inside plant and outside plant environments.

Requirements

  • Perform splicing of fiber optic cables
  • Ability to construct proper splicing in fiber enclosures
  • Ability to plan and install fiber distribution panels
  • Ability to execute large fiber count ring cuts/hot cuts
  • Ability to perform a fiber audit
  • Familiarity of equipment and service delivery over FttH, FttT, FttX, Fixed Wireless, PON, OLT applications
  • Perform testing utilizing OTDR’s, Power Meter/Light Sources, OLTS and VFLs
  • Ability to read, create and maintain accurate splicing schematics, records and diagrams
  • Knowledge and practice of BICSI, EIA, TIA standards
  • Perform aerial construction activities
  • Perform underground construction activities
  • Pulls various type of cables
  • Performs traffic control flagging duties
  • Ensures company assets are properly and continuously maintained
  • Accurately completes progress forms, project activity reports and all other documentation
  • Ability to survey jobs sites while considering all safety measures
  • Ability to make critical decisions
  • Oversees projects and delegates responsibilities
  • Mentors, trains, directs and supervises associates
  • Works closely with Supervisor to plan, organize, coordinate and schedule projects
  • Follows OSHA, NESC, and Company safety regulations and precautions
