Role Overview

The Fiber Technician will perform various tasks related to fiber optic cable installation, testing, and splicing. The role requires 100% travel within the USA and involves working at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces. The Fiber Technician must be self-motivated, positive, and professional, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What You Will Do

The Fiber Technician will mount and install racks, patch panels, fiber optic, and hardware. They will perform testing, troubleshoot issues, and install connectors. The role also involves calculating end-to-end loss budgets and completing paperwork accurately and on time.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The Fiber Technician must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and be proficient in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems. Industry certifications and experience in fiber installation, mechanical and fusion splicing, and OSP/confinement space entry are preferred.

Requirements

  • Experience in fiber installation, mechanical and fusion splicing, and OSP/confinement space entry
  • Industry certifications (Corning/FOA/BICSI)
  • Ability to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
