Role OverviewThe Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a dedicated team player to join in building and maintaining a convenient, safe, and innovative statewide transportation system. This position offers hands-on experience and personalized mentoring in field engineering and heavy highway construction under the guidance of a Licensed Professional Engineer.
What You Will Do
Perform engineering assignments supporting heavy highway construction projects, including construction inspection, surveying, preparing project records and estimates, interpreting plans and specifications, and resolving field challenges. Coordinate work, manage resources, and interact with contractors, the public, and public officials as experience grows.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- Must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license at time of application and be licensed by Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects at time of employment or within 90 days (for Professional Engineer I)
- Must pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) within one year of employment (for Engineer classification)
- Valid driver's license
