Role Overview

The Finance Counselor/Registration Clerk III has a variety of responsibilities including insurance specialist, information gatherer, collector, receptionist and switchboard operator, public relations, data entry, pre-admission schedules and coordination of authorizations/pre-certification/referrals. They will assess and establish payment plans, verify charity care programs qualifiers, and investigate other alternative financing. They will also provide assistance as a Certified Applications Counselor related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

The Finance Counselor/Registration Clerk III will perform duties such as data entry, clerical work, and customer service. They will also be responsible for pre-admission schedules, coordination of authorizations, and verification of charity care programs.

Requirements

  • Prefer college degree or other certification relevant to healthcare settings
  • High School or equivalent with demonstrated registration clerical skills
  • Ability to perform all duties of Registration Clerk I-II-III
  • Successful completion of the CMS-Certified Application Counselor (CAC) Curriculum
  • Strong Healthcare financial customer service skills
  • Medium to expert skill level using software like Word and Excel
  • Economics and Accounting knowledge
  • Strong writing ability
  • Prior healthcare experience (Medical Office or Hospital settings)
  • Experience working in customer service (Face to Face exchanges with customers)
  • Financial service experience from the point of care perspective
  • College degree in Coding or Healthcare, may be substituted for work experience
