Role OverviewWe are seeking a Fire Alarm Technician for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Rockville, MD. The position offers full benefits and pay of $30-$50 per hour based on experience. The technician will install, maintain, inspect, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with job specifications, NFPA 72, the NEC, and all applicable state and local codes.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include staying current with the latest editions of NFPA 72 and the NEC, programming and enabling fire alarm systems, responding to failures and emergency service calls, reading and interpreting fire alarm blueprints and project specifications, and supervising and participating in AHJ inspections.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have a valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License, NICET Level III Certification in Fire Alarm Systems, or a minimum of three years of hands-on fire alarm installation and service experience. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, as well as team leadership skills, are also required.
Requirements
- Valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License
- NICET Level III Certification in Fire Alarm Systems or a minimum of three years of hands-on fire alarm installation and service experience
- Comprehensive working knowledge of NFPA 72, the NEC, and applicable local fire alarm codes
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret fire alarm blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
- Experience with programming, enabling, and disabling fire alarm systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills specific to fire alarm systems
- Strong team leadership skills, including task delegation, communication, and mentoring of apprentices and helpers
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong proficiency in English — both written and verbal — to ensure effective communication with customers, team members, and the office
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, squat, bend, and climb ladders as required by the job
