Role OverviewHDR is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in North Carolina. This role involves managing fire protection portions of complex projects, evaluating and applying engineering techniques, and directing assigned staff. The position is based out of one of our NC offices (Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Asheville, Wilmington).
What You Will Do
Manage fire protection portions of complex projects, independently evaluate and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques, take responsibility for drawings and specifications, meet with clients and contractors, program and design complex systems, interpret engineering data, check drawings for accuracy, monitor schedules and budgets, review codes, coordinate with other disciplines, and prepare project status reports.

Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years experience in commercial or institutional facilities, with preferred experience in Healthcare, Science and Technology, and/or Civic facilities. A professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) is required. Local candidates are preferred. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Previous experience in commercial or institutional facilities
- Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software
