Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Fisheries Technician to assist on a contract providing Biological Services to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District. The position is expected to work approximately 40 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime.

What You Will Do

Assist with sampling fish at USACE hydroelectric projects, conduct juvenile and adult fishway inspections, identify piscivorous avian predators, and produce accurate weekly reports.

Requirements

  • Experience as a fisheries technician or biologist evaluating the health of juvenile salmonids
  • Experience with fish handling and anesthetizing fish
  • Work experience at a large hydroelectric project smolt collection facility
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Access
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of personalities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately interpret and follow established protocols, guidelines, and procedures
  • Ability to meet USACE requirements and security clearances to work at dam sites on the Snake and Columbia Rivers
  • Knowledge of Snake and Columbia Rivers fish species
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a natural resources field or closely related discipline with relevant work experience
