Role OverviewSupports TxDOT's mission by safely loading, transporting, and unloading construction equipment in the Central Texas Area. Works independently on assignments, but refers unusual issues to a supervisor. Supports emergency Continuity of Operations efforts, including disaster response, evacuations, emergency supply transport, and operating light and complex heavy equipment during emergency operations.
What You Will Do
Performs work as a long-haul truck operator loading, unloading, and transporting throughout the state of Texas vehicles and heavy equipment. Monitors and completes required reports, performs preventive maintenance inspections, and trains other employees on equipment operation and safety procedures.
Why It Might Be a Fit
This position requires a valid driver's license, a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and experience in transporting and/or operating maintenance and/or construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience securely tying down and transporting construction equipment, and will be able to prioritize and organize work assignments, and prepare and maintain confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- 3 years of experience in transporting and/or operating maintenance and/or construction equipment (Fleet Long-Haul Truck Operator I)
- 5 years of experience in transporting and/or operating maintenance and/or construction equipment (Fleet Long-Haul Truck Operator II)
