Float Radiation Therapist

The role involves evaluating prescribed imaging, making requested changes, and accurately documenting treatment information in the patient electronic record.

What You Will Do

The Float Radiation Therapist will evaluate prescribed imaging, make requested changes, and accurately document treatment information in the patient electronic record. They will also review new starts for consistency prior to treatment, verify patient positioning and field orientation, and check the record and verify system for prescription, treatment parameters, doses, treatment accessories, and monitor units.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have 1+ year of experience as a radiation therapist, be proficient in Electronic Health Records and record and verify systems, and have knowledge of anatomical structures for localization. They will also be able to learn and use Radiation Therapy software packages, have quick adaptability to departmental policies and procedures, and understand Basic Radiation Safety concepts.

Requirements

• Computer literate
• Proficiency in Electronic Health Records and record and verify systems
• Knowledge of anatomical structures for localization
• Technical skills to accomplish treatment plans proposed by Radiation Oncologists
• Ability to learn and use Radiation Therapy software packages
• Quick adaptability to departmental policies and procedures
• Understanding of Basic Radiation Safety concepts to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff
• Proficient in the use of Linear Accelerator, Treatment Planning Simulator, and patient tracking and scheduling systems
• Excellent clerical skills for record keeping
• Knowledge of radiobiology, doses to critical structures, and lymphatics for spread of disease
• Effective communication skills and ability to handle delicate or stressful issues with tact
• Familiarity with a range of medical devices and systems including patient dose monitors, portal imaging systems, and patient immobilization devices
• Fluent in the English language and able to comprehend both written and verbal instructions
• Organizational, interpersonal, and customer relations skills
• Competence in grammar, spelling, keyboarding, and computer usage
