Food Control Specialist

This position will serve staff and management across the Agency, impacting workplace culture, community, and population served. The role entails procuring, checking quality, preparation, and issuing food at Sunland Food Service Department. The work will impact the workplace culture, our community, and the population we serve as we continuously strive to achieve the Agency’s mission.

What You Will Do

Cook all foods to proper temperature and chart it on temperature chart. Ensure all food is appealing and appetizing. Ensure texture and consistencies are correct before issuing to serving line. Check in all food to ensure proper amount of food has been issued according to production sheet at the beginning of each meal. Check and approve quality of product before cooking or preparing.

Requirements

• Food service experience preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.
• Ability to prepare various reports related to food procurement and control.
• Ability to review food items for appropriate quality and quantity.
• Ability to conduct inventory checks of food items and order items as needed.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
