Role Overview

The Forensic Mortuary Technician I assists the Mortuary Operations Supervisors in day-to-day unit operations and performs various tasks related to mortuary procedures, including decedent handling, incident reporting, and operating the OCME Case Management System. This role is part of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, which investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from various causes. What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Forensic Mortuary Technician I include performing mortuary procedures, preparing incident reports, operating the OCME Case Management System, ensuring the mortuary areas are clean and stocked, and reporting complaints and incidents. The technician will also perform various tasks such as weighing remains, lifting remains into storage compartments, and operating a motor vehicle to and from death scenes.
