Role Overview

The City of Austin is seeking a General Maintenance Supervisor II to direct the activities of maintenance personnel and crews responsible for performing general maintenance work on City buildings, facilities, and grounds. This role involves supervising a team, inspecting construction sites for compliance, and developing operating procedures. The position is based in Austin, TX, with a Monday through Friday schedule that may require evenings, weekends, callbacks, and holiday work.

What You Will Do

You will inspect construction and construction sites for compliance with codes, specifications, and safety ordinances, and enforce safety rules. You will assist in developing the operating budget, order and issue supplies, and develop or revise operating procedures. You will train personnel, develop work schedules, assign job duties, monitor task completion, and review work for accuracy and completeness, as well as read profiles and blueprints to inspect buildings and equipment for needed repairs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of experience in general building and construction work
  • Two (2) years of experience in a lead/supervisory capacity
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment a valid Texas driver's license
