Job Description
At HDR, our employee-owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected. We are seeking a Geologist 1 to join our team, responsible for travel, field exploration, and communication with subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Travel required to perform oversight of drilling operations
  • Set up field exploration programs and coordinate with subcontractors
  • Conduct field visits to observe construction activities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of working independently or in a team environment
  • Perform assignments exercising judgement in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard geologic techniques and procedures
  • Prior experience with field work a plus but not required
  • Experience preparing technical reports, well diagrams, and boring logs a plus but not required
  • Experience with GIS preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD software (MicroStation) preferred
  • Must be willing to travel throughout North Carolina and Southeast region as needed
  • Ability to assess and classify soil and rock samples to determine geologic type
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions
  • May require ability to travel
