Job Description
Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is looking for a GIS Analyst II to perform advanced spatial analysis and create high-quality GIS visuals that support transmission and generation studies, energy markets, and real-time operations critical to grid reliability. The role requires strong technical expertise, collaboration, and adaptability, and embodies SPP's culture, mission, and core values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with coursework in Geography, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional GIS experience
  • Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop
  • Effective and efficient understanding of cartographic design principles.
  • Effective ability to perform spatial data analysis through the use of mapping software.
  • Ability to design digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
  • Ability to import, export, and create spatial data
  • Demonstrate the ability to create custom layouts (both hard-copy and digital)
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
  • Strong inter-personal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent working skills with communication and data handling software such as the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Access
  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle and ESRI software packages
  • Basic understanding of Python and how it relates to ESRI products
  • Experience using various spatial analysis techniques
  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
