Government Operations Consultant II

This is a highly responsible professional position as the Suicide Prevention Coordinator in the Violence and Injury Prevention Section, Bureau of Family Health Services, Division of Community Health Promotion. The position will develop and implement suicide prevention strategies, including education and awareness training, program and policy development, program evaluation, collaboration with internal and external partners, peer education, and social marketing.

What You Will Do

Serve as the program manager for the Comprehensive Suicide Prevention grant, participate in monthly Centers for Disease Control Technical calls, prepare and submit annual progress reports, coordinate with the Department of Children and Families Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention, and facilitate meetings as required.

Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and two years of work experience in a capacity related to duties to be performed or Master’s degree in health education, public health, or other specific health-related area, and one year of work experience in a capacity related to duties to be performed.
• Knowledge of suicide in particular, and violence and injury prevention in general; data collection and analysis; contract management; purchasing rules and procedures;
• Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations; ability to form consensus and solve problems; work effectively within a time-sensitive environment;
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable federal, state, and departmental rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures; plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others (strong communications skills - both written and orally).
