Job Description
Role Overview

The Monitor is an entry-level position responsible for providing security and safety for program clients, visitors, and employees. The role involves monitoring the shelter entrance, screening bags and persons, and patrolling premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.

What You Will Do

The Monitor will perform duties such as answering telephones, taking messages, and maintaining office housekeeping. They will also assist shelter staff during provision of services to clients, including meal preparation and medication administration.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult clients. They must also be able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
  • Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients
  • Within 30 days of hire, must successfully complete VOALA safety training
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current California driver's license and clean driving record, demonstrated Knowledge of CA driving laws
  • Database familiarity
  • Clean driving record to be insurable by VOALA insurance
