Role Overview

The Group Leader is responsible for the overall safety, development, management, organization, and planning of their group. This includes integrated educational projects, recreation, arts and crafts, and group building activities. The Group Leader will work with a team to provide high-quality services to youth from a variety of backgrounds. They will be responsible for the safe arrival and dismissal of all program participants and will demonstrate effective classroom management skills.

What You Will Do

The Group Leader will engage participants in after-school activities, role model appropriate behavior, and ensure safety at all times. They will also engage in outreach activities to ensure attendance and participation, provide support to activity instructors and other group leaders, and develop and facilitate a sequenced and thematic curriculum.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School/ GED Diploma and 1 year related experience in leading and participating in youth group development related activities required
  • Experience building a camp culture through chants, team building activities, and community building preferred
  • Can contribute a talent or experience in arts, music, crafts, etc. a plus
  • A commitment to working with youth from a variety of backgrounds, while providing high quality services
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective
