Role OverviewThe Grow Your Own Teacher (GYOT) program is designed to provide financial assistance to outstanding Wichita Public Schools employees in classified or substitute positions to pursue full-time teaching careers in hard-to-fill certified positions.
What You Will Do
Participants will be obligated to begin teaching full-time in their area of certification in Wichita Public Schools the first semester immediately following graduation and continuing for a period of three consecutive years minimum.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Applicants must be enrolled in a teaching program for one of the defined 'hard to fill' areas, have a minimum of 60 college credit hours completed, and a grade point average of 2.7 or better.
Requirements
- One year of consistent employment with Wichita Public Schools in a classified position or guest (substitute) position
- Minimum of 60 college credit hours completed, with a grade point average of 2.7 or better
- Enrolled in a teaching program for one of the defined 'hard to fill' areas
