Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to diagnose causes of damage and deterioration to structures
• Ability to physically perform hands-on inspection of bridges and structures and use required equipment
• Ability to prepare and, or draft structural drawings and sketches
• Ability to prepare reports, enter data, update and maintain files
• Ability to read and interpret bridge and structure plans and specifications
• Ability to use specialized inspection instruments and tools
• Ability to work at heights, over and in water, in confined spaces, in proximity to heavy traffic and in inclement weather
• Knowledge of and skill in the application of engineering math
• Knowledge of bridge maintenance and repair procedures and inspection methods
• Knowledge of common bridge types and components
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications
