Job Description
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) is seeking a Hearing Assistant to support the Bureau of State Hearings (BSH) in processing appeals from individuals who disagree with decisions made about their public benefits. The ideal candidate will have experience in processing benefit claims under appeal or research, written, and oral business communications and public contact.

Requirements

  • Review and organize documents submitted by appellants and county agencies
  • Complete data entry for hearings into systems including the Ohio Benefits Worker Tracker Portal and the Hearings and Appeals Tracking System
  • Answer phone calls and emails from appellants and provide clear information or direction based on their inquiry
  • Create the initial electronic hearing file, including correctly identifying all involved parties
  • Use a personal computer and standard software applications to complete daily tasks and support bureau operations
