Role OverviewThe Heavy Equipment Operator is skilled in wetlands and waterways excavation and works with the Wetlands Coordinator/Heavy Equipment Operator to plan and implement ditch maintenance projects. The role requires strong technical skills, the ability to manage excavation tasks without direct supervision, and a professional presence when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
What You Will Do
Performs water management excavation projects, operates, maintains, and transports excavation equipment, maintains records of all digging, operates vehicles, and conducts wetland and larval surveys.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable and experienced in each of the control operations of the Project, and is knowledgeable of the Project reporting requirements and wetland sites. The role requires a professional presence when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Ability to represent oneself and the Project in a professional and positive manner
- Basic knowledge of mosquito biology and knowledge of the Project’s geography
- Ability to walk over uneven sloping terrain while carrying equipment up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license
- DOT physical card
- 1C/2A Massachusetts Hoisting License
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a valid medical card
- Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator (Core) License
