Job Description

Uncommon Schools North Star Academy is seeking a Robotics Teacher who can teach students to use computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, and process information. Students will evaluate designs or specifications to ensure quality and interpret design or operational test results. The teacher will support students with the programming of robotic equipment, as well as with testing the performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and integrated systems/equipment. Our teachers prepare all students such that they have the choice to study and excel in any STEM discipline. Our teachers become experts in their course content and have a keen sense of how to motivate and inspire high school students. 

Responsibilities

1.     Instruction

  • You'll create a safe and interactive environment where students feel empowered to engage in robotics and allow them to demonstrate knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • You’ll build students’ knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to design and produce goods. 
  • You’ll teach a curriculum of Robotics that inspires students to be science and technology leaders
  • You'll develop students’ skills of questioning, modeling, constructing explanations, data analysis, argumentation, and planning and conducting interactive labs.
  • You'll facilitate student-led inquiry of various scientific topics and engage students in lab and project-based performance tasks. 
  • You'll work with the Science department to determine academic and engagement goals for students.
