Role OverviewThe Highway Repairer - OER is a 24/7 operation that resolves incidents or crises threatening transportation infrastructure in NYC. The role involves emergency bridge, arterial, or roadway maintenance & repair work, installing, repairing, or removing signs, and performing general laboring tasks.
What You Will Do
The candidate will patrol Citywide arterials, perform general laboring tasks, restoration of plumbers cuts, install, repair fences, guide/guard rails, and cut out defective areas for patching. They will also prepare reports, monitor Radio Frequencies, and coordinate with city, state, and contractors.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, have some knowledge or background operating motorized vehicles, tow equipment, and various attachments, and be familiar with various hand, electrical, gas, and power tools.
Requirements
- Three years of full-time experience as an Assistant City Highway Repairer
- Three years of full-time experience acquired within the last 5 years in roadway maintenance and repair using asphalt and concrete mixes, performing the functions of a Highway Repairer
- Education and/or experience equivalent to '1' or '2' above
- Class B Commercial Driver License valid for air brakes, valid in the State of New York
