Role Overview

The Highway Technician 1 will perform snow and ice duties on the roadway, conduct fleet readiness inspections, and assist with sign installation along routes. The role involves working outdoors, operating equipment, and maintaining traffic for roadway emergencies. The position requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restrictions. The role is seasonal, lasting from 2026-2027, and is based in Geauga County.

What You Will Do

The Highway Technician 1 will perform a variety of tasks, including snow and ice duties, fleet readiness inspections, washing of snow and ice equipment, and assisting with sign installation. The role also involves operating an articulated loader to load single and tandem axle dump trucks for snow and ice operations.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restrictions
  • Formal education in arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, and fractions
  • Ability to read, write, and speak common English vocabulary
  • Three months of training or experience in operating basic equipment
