Role Overview

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Horticulture Teacher 1 to provide instruction in turf management and business management to inmates at the Madison Correctional Institution. The successful candidate will assess educational needs, develop lesson plans, and maintain discipline and security. The role requires a strong understanding of grounds and landscaping, emotional intelligence, and customer focus.

The Horticulture Teacher 1 will provide instruction in turf management, business management, and individual assistance to inmates. They will also assess educational needs, develop lesson plans, administer and score examinations, and maintain discipline and security.

Requirements

  • Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - horticulture & grade level as assigned
  • baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement
  • successful obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment
